PS - forgot to mention that our G-parents came from a much more devout time of religion than we did. Mine have been married for 36 years now and still seem pretty happy about it!
I think for us though, monogomy is a choice, not the norm.
Its like it is almost against natures design for 'us'.......
Ready and waiting for the nasty emails on this post! you only forgot to say that same apply to women too.
We are not, by nature, a "manogamous" or "womanogamous" being.
It wasn't until the introduction of religion that everything became all screwed up (sorry bout the pun).
You can have one man and 100 women to ensure the population survives.
Also if one woman was left and 100 men, the breeding would actually limit who had the "strongest sperm" to ensure the golden rule of "survival of the fittest (Google "sperm wars" or something like to understand more about this).
I don't believe it's right when it's done behind the other's back.
Seems the search for a perfect man continues during the marriage and,at the expense of the marriage.
I hate to say it but what other animals excluding Swans are really truly manogamus???????
Even if you don't believe in "evolution", society, and circumstances around us evolve constantly.
If it was at one point in our nature to be a non-monogamous species, it certainly is counter productive to human evolution these days. I am not religious myself, but that is a cop-out.....blame it on the establishment.
